01. OUR ENVIRONMENTAL APPROACH

DVM Group recognises that logistics, vehicle operations, warehousing and mobility services can have environmental impacts through vehicle movement, energy use, materials, packaging and waste generation.

Our approach is to identify practical opportunities to reduce unnecessary environmental impact while continuing to meet operational, safety and customer requirements.

01
Reduce

Avoid unnecessary journeys, material use, waste and inefficient operational practices.

02
Reuse

Reuse suitable packaging, materials and operational items where this is safe and practical.

03
Recycle

Separate appropriate waste streams and use suitable recycling routes where available.

04
Improve

Review operations and identify reasonable opportunities for further improvement.

02. ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPE

Environmental considerations form part of multiple areas of DVM Group activity.

LOGISTICS Warehouse & Transport

Storage, packaging, material movement, deliveries and commercial logistics.

VEHICLES Fleet Operations

Vehicle selection, route efficiency, maintenance and responsible vehicle use.

MOBILITY Battery Operations

Battery handling, transport, operational hubs and end-of-life considerations.

PROJECTS Installation & Relocation

Packaging, furniture reuse, recycling and waste generated during commercial projects.

03. VEHICLE FLEET & ELECTRIFICATION

DVM has invested in electric vehicles as part of the continuing development of its operational fleet.

Vehicle choice remains dependent on operational suitability, payload, range, charging availability and the requirements of the service being delivered.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

EVs are used where suitable for the operational requirement.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE

Proper servicing helps maintain safe and efficient vehicle operation.

LOAD PLANNING

Appropriate vehicle selection helps avoid unnecessary journeys and inefficient loading.

DRIVER AWARENESS

Responsible driving can contribute to more efficient fleet operation.

04. ROUTE & OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Vehicle movement is a significant part of DVM operations. Planning routes, workloads and collections efficiently can reduce unnecessary mileage, repeated journeys and operational downtime.

01 PLAN

Review required jobs, routes and operational priorities.

02 COMBINE

Consolidate appropriate movements where practical.

03 LOAD

Use vehicle space effectively and safely.

04 DELIVER

Complete operations efficiently and safely.

05 REVIEW

Identify repeated inefficiencies and opportunities.

05. WAREHOUSE & STORAGE OPERATIONS

Warehouse operations can generate packaging, damaged materials, pallets, electrical equipment and other waste streams.

ORGANISATION

Structured storage can help reduce accidental damage and unnecessary disposal.

PACKAGING

Reusable packaging should be retained where practical and safe.

SEGREGATION

Relevant waste streams should be separated where suitable arrangements exist.

HOUSEKEEPING

Controlled work areas support both safety and responsible material management.

06. REUSE & MATERIAL RECOVERY

DVM aims to avoid unnecessary disposal of materials that remain suitable for continued use.

Depending on the project and customer requirements, opportunities may include reuse, redistribution, donation, refurbishment or recycling.

FURNITURE Reuse

Suitable furniture may be relocated, reconfigured or reused rather than disposed of.

PACKAGING Recovery

Reusable protection, containers and packaging may be retained where appropriate.

MATERIALS Recycling

Materials unsuitable for reuse may be directed to appropriate recycling streams.

07. WASTE MANAGEMENT & DUTY OF CARE

Waste generated through DVM operations should be handled through appropriate waste routes and in accordance with applicable environmental requirements.

IDENTIFY

Determine the type of waste generated.

SEGREGATE

Keep appropriate waste streams separate where practical.

STORE

Prevent unsafe or uncontrolled waste storage.

TRANSFER

Use an appropriate authorised waste route where required.

DOCUMENT

Retain relevant waste documentation where applicable.

08. WEEE & ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Electrical and electronic equipment that becomes waste should not automatically be treated as ordinary general waste.

Where WEEE forms part of a DVM project or operation, an appropriate reuse, recycling or authorised disposal route should be selected according to the circumstances.

ELECTRICAL WASTE Separate from General Waste

Electrical equipment should be assessed for reuse, recovery or appropriate disposal rather than automatically entering general waste.

09. BATTERIES & MOBILITY OPERATIONS

Battery operations require both safety and environmental consideration.

Batteries should be handled according to their condition, operational status and applicable partner, manufacturer, transport and waste requirements.

ACTIVE Operational Batteries

Managed as part of normal mobility operations where suitable for use.

ABNORMAL Damaged Batteries

Removed from normal handling and escalated through the relevant procedure.

END OF LIFE Waste Batteries

Directed through the applicable authorised recovery or waste route.

RECORDS Traceability

Relevant operational or waste information retained where required.

10. ENERGY & RESOURCE EFFICIENCY

DVM aims to avoid unnecessary energy and resource consumption where reasonable operational alternatives are available.

LIGHTING

Avoid unnecessary lighting or energy use in inactive operational areas where practical.

CHARGING

Battery and vehicle charging should be managed using suitable equipment and procedures.

EQUIPMENT

Maintain equipment to support reliable and efficient operation.

MATERIALS

Avoid unnecessary consumption of disposable operational materials.

11. SPILLS & ENVIRONMENTAL INCIDENTS

Environmental incidents such as significant leaks, spills, uncontrolled waste release or other abnormal events should be reported through the appropriate operational process.

!
PREVENT FURTHER RELEASE

Where safe to do so, operations should be controlled to prevent an environmental incident becoming more serious, followed by appropriate escalation and reporting.

12. SUPPLIERS & OPERATIONAL PARTNERS

DVM works with customers, suppliers, contractors and operational partners whose activities can influence the environmental performance of a project.

Where relevant and proportionate, DVM may consider environmental arrangements when selecting services, waste routes, transport solutions or operational suppliers.

AUTHORISED SERVICES

Appropriate providers used where regulated waste or specialist services are required.

CLEAR RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental responsibilities should be understood within the applicable project.

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS

Site-specific environmental rules followed where applicable.

13. TRAINING & AWARENESS

Personnel should receive environmental information relevant to the operations they perform.

Waste segregation
Battery handling
Spill response
Vehicle efficiency
Site environmental rules
Incident reporting
WEEE awareness
Material reuse

14. RECORDS & DOCUMENTATION

Environmental records should be retained where appropriate to the operation or required by applicable legal, contractual or client arrangements.

WASTE Transfer Documentation

Relevant waste transfer records where applicable.

INCIDENT Environmental Reports

Significant incidents and corrective action.

PROJECT Client Requirements

Project-specific environmental records where required.

REVIEW Operational Improvement

Information supporting future improvements.

15. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

DVM's environmental approach may develop as vehicles, technology, operational partners and service requirements change.

Where practical, DVM aims to identify improvements that can reduce waste, improve fleet efficiency, increase reuse and support more responsible operational practices.

REVIEW Measure what can reasonably be improved.
ADAPT Update processes when better solutions are available.

16. ENVIRONMENTAL & REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Depending on the specific activity undertaken, environmental requirements affecting DVM operations may include UK waste, electrical waste, battery, transport and environmental protection requirements.

Environmental Protection Act 1990 Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 Environmental Permitting Regulations where applicable Duty of Care requirements for controlled waste
