SAFETY BUILT INTO EVERY OPERATION.
From warehouse operations and commercial installations to vehicle hire and urban mobility, DVM plans work around safe people, safe equipment and controlled operations.
Health & Safety framework · DVM Group
SAFE PEOPLE. SAFE OPERATIONS.
DVM's objective is to prevent injury, protect customers, employees, contractors, drivers, vehicles, equipment and property, and ensure work is planned and controlled before operations begin.
01. SAFETY ACROSS DVM OPERATIONS
Health and safety arrangements are adapted to the nature of each DVM operation. Controls are selected according to the work being carried out, the location, equipment, people involved and risks identified.
Storage, loading, unloading, furniture handling, installations, relocations and commercial logistics operations.
- Warehouse traffic and pedestrian controls
- Safe loading and load restraint
- Manual handling controls
- Racking, access and housekeeping checks
Vehicle safety, roadworthiness, customer handover, driver eligibility and operational support for DVM hire vehicles.
- Pre-hire vehicle inspections
- Maintenance and servicing controls
- Driver eligibility verification
- Breakdown and emergency guidance
Battery swaps, bike movement, collection, deployment and operational vehicle activity across active mobility zones.
- Battery handling procedures
- Safe vehicle loading and unloading
- Route and roadside awareness
- Operational incident reporting
02. OUR HEALTH & SAFETY COMMITMENT
Work should be assessed before commencement so that foreseeable hazards, access constraints, equipment requirements and site-specific controls can be identified.
Appropriate supervision, communication and operational checks should be maintained according to the type and complexity of the work.
Work should not continue where conditions have changed materially or where an uncontrolled safety risk has been identified.
Incidents, near misses, operational changes and observations may be used to improve future controls and working arrangements.
03. PLANNING, RISK ASSESSMENT & RAMS
Risk assessments and method statements may be prepared for relevant DVM operations before work starts and reviewed when site conditions, work scope or identified hazards change.
Review task, people, equipment and environment.
Consider likelihood, severity and exposure.
Define appropriate preventative measures.
Brief relevant people before work begins.
Reassess when conditions or operations change.
04. COMPETENCE, TRAINING & BRIEFINGS
Training and competence requirements depend on role, equipment and work activity. Relevant qualifications, training and site inductions may include:
Training requirements are role-specific and the above list should not be interpreted as meaning that every qualification applies to every DVM operative.
05. EQUIPMENT, PPE & INSPECTIONS
Equipment should be suitable for its intended purpose and inspected or maintained as required.
Standard and task-specific personal protective equipment should be selected according to risk.
Access equipment and work-at-height controls should be appropriate to the planned task.
Mechanical aids and handling strategies should be used where appropriate to reduce manual risk.
06. WAREHOUSE & COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS
Defined routes and controlled movement where required.
Suitable storage arrangements and inspection controls.
Controlled loading areas, load restraint and safe access.
Protection of people, finishes, access routes and client property.
Clear walkways, organised work areas and clean-as-you-go practices.
Emergency access, fire routes and appropriate workplace controls.
07. COMMERCIAL VAN HIRE
Vehicle hire introduces a different risk profile to warehouse or installation work. DVM therefore applies vehicle-specific controls before and during hire.
Vehicle condition and roadworthiness checks.
Licence and eligibility checks appropriate to hire.
Vehicle information and relevant operating guidance.
Breakdown and emergency contact arrangements.
08. MOBILITY OPERATIONS & BATTERY HANDLING
DVM mobility operations involve vehicle movement, battery transportation, battery swaps, bike collection, deployment and work in active urban environments.
Batteries should be handled, stored and transported in accordance with defined operational procedures and the relevant equipment requirements.
Equipment carried in operational vehicles should be loaded and secured to reduce movement during transit.
Drivers should remain aware of live traffic, pedestrians, cyclists and changing roadside conditions.
Damaged batteries, vehicle incidents, unsafe conditions and equipment concerns should be reported through the defined operational process.
09. COSHH & HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
Where substances hazardous to health are used or encountered, relevant information and controls should be reviewed before use.
Safety Data Sheets and COSHH assessments should be made available where required for substances used within relevant DVM activities.
10. ENVIRONMENT & WASTE
DVM aims to minimise unnecessary waste while maintaining safe and practical operational standards.
Separate waste streams where practical.
Reuse or donation may be considered where suitable.
Appropriate recycling routes, including WEEE where relevant.
11. INCIDENTS, NEAR MISSES & EMERGENCIES
Accidents, unsafe conditions and near misses should be reported so that appropriate action can be taken and lessons can be incorporated into future operations.
Where there is an immediate risk to people, operations should be stopped or controlled until the hazard has been addressed.
12. INSURANCE, POLICIES & DOCUMENTATION
DVM maintains business documentation appropriate to its operations. Relevant Health & Safety Policies, RAMS and supporting documents may be provided to clients or operational partners where required.
Corporate H&S arrangements and responsibilities.
Task and site-specific risk assessment and method statements.
Relevant business insurance documentation.
13. LEGAL & REGULATORY FRAMEWORK
Depending on the activity being undertaken, relevant UK health and safety requirements may include:
The legislation applicable to a particular operation depends on the work activity, equipment, location and contractual role undertaken by DVM.
Health and safety operates alongside DVM's privacy, data protection and digital security controls.
